The Steinway & Sons Model C Music System

Born from the same DNA as our flagship Model D, the Model C Music System further exemplifies Steinway Lyngdorf’s fusion of superior craftsmanship, perfected technology, and exquisite design. Ideal for intimate living spaces and compact listening rooms, the sleek and elegant Model C features two floor-standing dipole speakers, twin boundary woofers, and the same iconic head unit and remote control as the Model D Music System. Offering studio-quality sound for all musical genres, especially jazz, blues, rock, and R&B, the Model C delivers sound that is so captivating, it will forever change the way you experience music.

RoomPerfect™

Rather than adapt the room to the music system like other conventional products do, Steinway Lyngdorf adapts the music system to the room. Years of research have resulted in RoomPerfect™, a proprietary technology that produces the first fully 3-dimesional map of a room’s sound field. RoomPerfect™ adjusts your music system to overcome spatial influences and deliver a uniform tonal balance throughout the entire listening space.

This ensures excellent sound quality is enjoyed no matter where you are in the room. The RoomPerfect™ patent is one of the most comprehensive ever filed in the history of acoustics. Find out more.

Digital Advantage

Digital Dominion
The high-mass, gilded brass volume wheel mounted on twin precision bearings has become an iconic feature of the Model C Music System, providing total control over the sophisticated digital amplification technology within.

Specially designed for both aesthetic form and functionality, the volume wheel digitally controls the power supply voltage of the high-power digital-to-analogue converter which drives the speakers directly to ensure full digital signal resolution and consistently natural sound at all levels. The forward-facing readout displays the playback volume on a relative decibel scale.

The Digital Link

The Model C Music System is entirely digital from the signal input all the way to the loudspeaker drivers, elegantly side-stepping distortions that arise in analogue amplifiers.

Other advantages include inaudibly low noise levels and minimal power consumption. The extremely efficient fully digital amplifier is based on the World's first truly digital amplifier - the legendary Millennium – the most premiere in digital amplification which has been upgraded and tweaked since it was developed by Peter Lyngdorf in 1998.
It simply offers an amazing music quality and real-life dynamic range. Find out more.

Dipole Loudspeaker

The two sleek open-baffle loudspeakers radiate sound front and rear for uniform distribution without bass build-up along the room’s perimeters and with vastly reduced spillover to adjacent rooms. With no air mass compressed inside an enclosure, these speakers respond with speed and precision. The potential loss of bass energy in an open baffle is pre-corrected by the system’s digital signal processor.

The inert baffle milled from solid blocks of aluminium holds the decoupled drivers absolutely still, so only the cones move. The result is more accurate and dynamic musical reproduction as the loudspeaker starts and stops precisely when the musical signal demands it. Find out more.

Boundary Woofers

The Model C’s twin Boundary Woofers are engineered to add greater sonic depth and powerful bass to any musical genre. Optimally placed in the corners of your listening room, Boundary Woofers ensure that both the direct sound and critical reflections from the floor and walls arrive at all listening positions simultaneously.

From a typical full-range ”box” speaker you will always hear the delayed arrival of several low frequency reflections. With a Steinway & Sons Boundary Woofer there is no delay, only smooth, uniform sound.
Correct corner placement also broadens your system’s dynamic range by generating more headroom. Because the corner set-up improves the sensitivity of sound pressure levels emanating from the Boundary Woofers, an energy reserve is created, meaning less power is consumed.

Simply, this added efficiency allows you to playback your music at higher levels, without any distortion. Find out more.

Custom Finishes

Recognizing the importance of personal style, custom finishes are available to complement any home décor.
The Model C Music System is offered in a broad range of stunning wood finishes and high-gloss lacquer colors with either gold or chrome accents.

To ensure the longevity of your investment, Steinway Lyngdorf’s intelligent modular build allows for new finishes to be applied on the occasion of room redecoration or system relocation.
