September 2011 - Steinway Lyngdorf expands its S – Series range with in-wall speakers

Steinway Lyngdorf, the company that captivated the global audio world with an unprecedented collection of audio systems in collaboration with Steinway & Sons, announces the launch of an expanded range of in-wall speakers.  These new additions will debut globally in September at CEDIA Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana and at the 11th annual Forbes Global CEO Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The new in-wall speakers consist of the compact S-15IW and S-16IW speakers, thus expanding the offerings of the recently launched S – Series on-wall/on-cabinet speakers, as well as the new In-Wall Series IW26H and IW26V speakers. Both collections of speakers represent Steinway Lyngdorf’s commitment to mastering innovative technology and classic design to deliver truly exceptional experiences.

“We are very excited to expand the Steinway Lyngdorf portfolio with new in-wall speaker offerings.  The recent launch of the S – Series has received a tremendous response for its exceptional compact size and unsurpassed sound. The addition of discreet in-wall and in-ceiling versions to this collection further reinforces our dedication to continuous innovation,” said Peter Lyngdorf, Founder, Steinway Lyngdorf.

The S Series that was launched in June 2011 is a stunning addition to Steinway Lyngdorf’s existing Signature Collection - a distinctive range of superior quality sound systems, which includes the flagship Model D, the Model C, Model LS and Model M Sound Systems. Delivering remarkable sound from uniquely compact speaker units, this collection is designed especially for smaller-scale private residences, hospitality establishments, and private yachts, where space is at a premium but exceptional audio experiences are not to be compromised.

The sleek S - Series can serve as a primary home audio system or complement existing Steinway Lyngdorf components.  The series consists of three speaker options — the S-15, a slim mid-high speaker for on-wall and console placement; the S-15IW in-wall speaker; and the S-16IW in-wall and in-ceiling speaker. The discreet in-wall and in-ceiling models feature decoupled installation brackets eliminating vibrations from the speaker to the wall and white, paintable grills.  Completing the collection is the S-210, an on-floor boundary woofer, which provides tonally accurate and highly musical bass with virtually no cabinet vibrations.

In addition to expanding the S-Series, Steinway Lyngdorf increases its in-wall offerings for dedicated home theater applications with the launch of the In-Wall Series´ three-way horizontal speaker and two-way vertical speaker. Showcased at CEDIA Expo 2011 for the first time, these dedicated in-wall speakers are specifically designed to be placed behind acoustically transparent fabric panels or in columns to offer exceptional performance.  With a larger cabinet size than Steinway Lyngdorf’s previous in-wall speakers, the IW26V and IW26H have a vastly increased sensitivity, allowing for the same SPL level to be reached with only half the amount of power.

As with all Steinway Lyngdorf speakers, the new in-wall models may be installed in a stereo configuration when combined with the newly launched fully digital SP-1 Stereo Processor, or with the P1 Surround Sound Processor for the ultimate cinematic experience. In either configuration, one has the choice of fully digital amplifiers, the A1 (2 channel) or the soon to be launched A2 (4 channel).  Both the SP-1 Stereo Processor and the P1 Surround Sound Processor feature Steinway Lyngdorf’s proprietary RoomPerfect™ technology, which is the first three-dimensional room correction technology that maps the sound field of any room to deliver the most accurate, superior quality sound. The Steinway Lyngdorf Digital Link used in combination with fully digital amplifiers also ensures the audio signal remains entirely digital guaranteeing superior high-definition audio throughout the system.

The new in-wall speakers will begin shipping on September 12, 2011. A 5.2 configuration with IW26 speakers starts at $61,100 and includes boundary woofers, a P1 surround sound processor and A1 amplifiers. The S - Series system pricing starts at $21,100, including an SP-1 stereo processor, A1 amplifiers, dual boundary woofers and two mid-high speakers.
